June 1 - June 24

Call today to reserve your space: (501) 623-0020

Certified Nursing Assistant (91 hours)

This course provides information and skills training necessary for the providing hands-on personal care for individuals who need moderate to maximum assistance. Graduates can perform services in private homes, for home health agencies, in other settings under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in nursing homes and qualify to take the state CNA exam.

Students are required to complete 75 hours of classroom and lab training in addition to 16 hours of clinical experience at a nursing home, skilled rehab hospital or hospice house.

Note: All students may not go to the clinical site on the same day. Students will receive details regarding their clinical assignment after class begins. Students who are tardy to the clinical site will not be allowed to participate on that day. Missed clinical time may be made up during the next identical course offering
that has availability, subject to instructor’s discretion. Clinical may begin as early as 6:30 am. Start time depends on the setting chosen for that course track. You will be informed of the location of the clinical site on the first day of class. Transportation to and from the site is the student’s responsibility.

Students must comply with all health and safety requirements of the clinical site. These may include, but are not limited to, current TB skin test and drug testing. We strongly urge students who plan to participate in the course to have their TB skin test completed prior to the start of first class. Failure to meet these requirements is grounds for program dismissal.

A watch with a second hand is also required for use in the classroom and clinical rotation. The dress code for the clinical rotation consists of an OCOA shirt (provided at no additional expense). The student is required to wear closed-toe shoes and pants that are a solid color.

Liability insurance is provided for students participating in clinical rotation but does not cover the cost to treat injuries sustained to the student while participating in clinical.

Students are required to complete an “Incident/accident Contact Form” prior to their clinical rotation. In the event an incident or accident occurs during the clinical rotation, the permission form authorizes the instructor to contact emergency services and contact next of kin or another designee. OCOA shall be held harmless.
